The Elusive Samurai
Nige Jouzu no Wakagimi
In the year 1333, the young heir of the Kamakura shogunate, Hojo Tokiyuki, had no notable skills as a warrior and spent his days avoiding martial arts training. However, the sudden rebellion of Ashikaga Takauji, a vassal who conspired with Emperor Go-Daigo, led to the downfall of the Kamakura shogunate. Having lost his hometown and family, Tokiyuki, the sole survivor, was protected by Suwa Yoshishige, a priest from Shinano Province. Yoshishige claimed to have the ability to see the future and prophesied that Tokiyuki would become a hero who would "shake the heavens two years later." Tokiyuki excelled in the talent of hiding and surviving more than anyone else. In an era where dying honorably was esteemed, this marks the beginning of a heroic tale where he carves out his harsh fate through his incredible ability to flee from any danger.
