Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin
Tensui no Sakuna-hime
In the eastern land of Yanato, divided into the Heavenly Realm for gods and the Earthly Realm for people, the capital Mikashirato hosts eight million deities. One such deity, Sakuna-hime, daughter of the war god Takeribi and fertility goddess Toyohana, was spoiled and lazy. She thrived on the riches left by her parents, living a life of luxury while often being scolded by her foster parent, Grandpa Tama, for her indulgence.
Meanwhile, a bandit samurai named Tadayemon helped slaves escape from his gang and stumbled onto the Floating Bridge of Heaven leading to the divine realm. Just then, pursuers arrived, but Sakuna, seeking excitement, intervened, driving them away and warning Tadayemon and his friends not to go further. Starving and desperate, they ignored her warning and entered the divine realm, breaking into a warehouse of offerings for the main deity, Kamuhitsuki. In an attempt to chase them out, Sakuna accidentally set the warehouse ablaze, destroying it completely.
As a result, Sakuna was expelled from Mikashirato and ordered by Kamuhitsuki to team up with Tadayemon to explore the mysterious Hinoe Island, known as Oni Island. Working alongside Tadayemon and the native Ashigumo people, she faced demons and the challenges of her new reality. Through trials and the support of Tadayemon's group, Sakuna begins to grow stronger and wiser, learning the value of hard work and perseverance.
