Anne Shirley
Anne Shirley, an 11-year-old orphan, arrives at Green Gables on Prince Edward Island. Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert, an elderly brother and sister, had wanted to adopt a boy, but Anne was sent to them by mistake. While Matthew is eager to welcome her, Marilla initially plans to return her to the orphanage. However, after learning about Anne's situation, she decides to let her stay. At Green Gables, Anne meets Gilbert Blythe, her academic rival, and Diana Barry, her lifelong friend. Through her experiences with classmates, teachers, and local residents, Anne matures from a young girl into a young woman, focused on her future.
