Black Torch

Jiro Azuma is a high school delinquent who was raised by his grandfather in the art of ninjutsu. He also has the unique ability to communicate with animals. One day, while wandering in the forest, he encounters a wounded black cat. Initially thinking it's just an ordinary cat, Jiro is surprised to discover that this cat has a supernatural origin, introducing itself as Rago of the Black Star of Doom, a legendary evil spirit. Rago explains that his injuries were caused by other spirits trying to take advantage of his great power. While trying to escape later that night, the pursuing forces ambush Rago and end up killing Jiro in the crossfire. Grateful for Jiro's earlier kindness, Rago merges with him, granting him a second chance at life. Soon after, they catch the attention of the Bureau of Espionage, who recruits them to help thwart other evil spirits before they can harm innocent lives.
