In a modern mountain town, there remains a legend about a half-human, half-snake spirit known as "Yamatagi-Madara," who once brought fear to the village. The western mountain was deemed off-limits, and a shrine was built in her honor. People still worry that those who enter the forbidden area will face a curse.

Hinata and Kaoru, siblings from the Mitsukidani family, have looked after the western mountain for generations. Out of curiosity, they venture into the forbidden land and encounter Yamatagi-Madara, a powerful yokai with the upper body of a shrine maiden and the lower body of a giant snake. True to the stories, Yamatagi-Madara has a frightening appearance, but the siblings remain unafraid and start to call her "Dara-san" in a friendly manner. amatagi-Madara, once a kind shrine maiden, finds herself caught up in the lively daily life of the siblings.
