On Izu Oshima, a remote island located 120 kilometers south of Tokyo, Ai Azumi is a first-year student at Oshima Minami High School. She loves reading manga and spends her time with "Pokota," her favorite manga character, as her imaginary friend. When she finds out that her favorite manga artist is releasing a new work for the first time in ten years, she travels to the mainland to attend the convention. Moved by her experience there, Ai realizes that manga is not just for reading but also something you can create yourself. She is also surprised to discover that her favorite author and idol is none other than Rei Teshima, a teacher at her school who has always insisted in class that manga is a total waste of time.

Despite this, Ai pleads with Rei to teach her how to draw. When her friends hear about this, they decide to start a manga club at school. Although Rei has previously spoken negatively about manga, she is touched by Ai's enthusiasm and agrees to be the advisor, leading to the establishment of the manga club. By publishing their manga on social media and showcasing it at the school festival, the group learns about the meaning of creating manga and the importance of working together, helping them deepen their friendship as they navigate the ups and downs of the creative world.
