Tenmaku no Jaadugar

In the 13th century, in the city of Tus in eastern Persia, a young girl named Sitara is sold into slavery to a family of scholars. She is taken into the home of Fatima, a scholar's widow, through the arrangements of a slave trader. While working there, she also receives an education. Eight years later, the Mongols invade the Middle Eastern cities, including Tus. When Sitara tries to retrieve the family's prized book from Tolui of the Mongol army, Fatima is killed while shielding Sitara from a soldier's blade. While a prisoner of the Mongol army, she loses her fellow slaves to death but eventually becomes a lady-in-waiting to Tolui's wife, Sorghaghtani. However, angered by the queen's indifference toward the plight and suffering of those whose lands were invaded, Sitara resolves to take revenge on the Mongols.
