In Taisho-era Japan, Kodou Iwamoto is a middle school student at a military academy, assigned to explore paranormal events. While looking into a village where there are rumors of mysterious black snow, he encounters a boy with supernatural abilities, who mistakes them for a sickness. Kodou teaches him how to harness his powers and extends an invitation for him to join the school and take part in upcoming investigations.
